Chapter 3.5

The youngest members of the family were nearing the end of their teenage years. But first they had the most important night of the senior school year –  prom night.

Caleb and Celeste glammed up for the big event. Celeste was excited to dance the night away with her prom date, Tyree Shanks.

Screenshot-6053Back at home, it was an important night for the twins’ father too. It was Israel’s birthday.

Screenshot-797Israel was now an elder.

Screenshot-803Even after all these years of marriage, Esmerelda was still as much in love with Israel as ever.

Screenshot-799Despite the fact that he was now getting on in years, Israel was still determined to achieve his dream of becoming a Hit Movie Composer.

Screenshot-806It was nearly summer, and the family had finally completed their outdoor entertainment area.

Screenshot-866 Screenshot-825It was a great place for the whole family to relax and enjoy the warmer weather – although the diving board was going to take some practice to get used to!

Screenshot-823Alec and Ann were away, enjoying their honeymoon in France.

Screenshot-432They had an amazing time windsurfing through Champs Les Sims.

Screenshot-442 Screenshot-443All too soon their trip was over though, and it was time to go home.

Screenshot-445They visited the family home to say a quick hello and goodbye to Alec’s family before they headed off to their own place in town.

Screenshot-773 Screenshot-775Aurora’s boyfriend Derek had now officially moved in. His first novel Adventures in Space, Time & Other Places  had been a moderate success, and he was now working on a new book Far Beyond Infinity & Then Even Further.

Now that he was officially a published Science Fiction author, it was times for him to “get his geek on”.

Screenshot-778 Screenshot-779He spent so much time engrossed in his writing that even though they lived together, Aurora felt she barely ever got to spend any time with him.

Screenshot-784But she had something weighing heavily on her mind that she knew they needed to discuss.

Screenshot-830“Derek, there’s something I want to talk to you about,” she said seriously.

“Alright, sure,” Derek replied, closing his laptop and putting it aside.

“I want to start a family,” Aurora said bluntly.

Screenshot-831“A family? Like as in children? You know I don’t like children,” Derek replied, looking startled.

“But if they were our children….?” Aurora began.

“What difference does that make?”

“You’d love your own children – you’d have to!”

Screenshot-834“Nuh-uh, babies are just gross and they poo everywhere and cry all the time – and then they get a bit older and they just asked annoying questions non-stop and they always have snotty noses…”

“Don’t be ridiculous, there’s lots of good things about babies and children!” Aurora exclaimed angrily.

Screenshot-835“Look Aurora, I’m not trying to start a fight,” Derek said, “I just don’t like children, you’ve always know that.”

Screenshot-842Aurora took a deep breath.

“Derek, having children is more important to me than anything else. I am helping my family build a great legacy here, and I need an heir to pass that on to.”

Screenshot-843“I get that, I really do,” he said with a shrug, “But I’ve never planned on being a dad, and I don’t see any reason why that should change now.”

Aurora was too angry to reply. She couldn’t even look at him anymore, she just stood up and walked away.

Screenshot-844Aurora’s anger faded quickly, just leaving sadness and anguish in it’s wake. She loved Derek, he was her perfect match. But she couldn’t go through life without having a family of her own.

Screenshot-845She felt her heart was breaking, she didn’t know what to do.

Screenshot-847Whenever she felt stressed, she craved a cigarette to help her relax. She had just lit a cigarette and taken her first drag when she heard footsteps approaching.

Screenshot-850“You know you’re going to have to quit smoking if you’re going to have a baby,” Derek said.

Screenshot-855“What do you mean?”

“If you want to have a baby… well then we can have a baby.”

Aurora threw her arms around him.

Screenshot-856“Do you mean it?” she asked as she pulled away from him, “But you hate kids, and you said you had no reason to change your mind?”

“When you walked away, I thought about how I’d feel if you actually left me. I can’t bear to be without you Aurora. I can’t promise how I’ll feel about our child, and I don’t know how involved I’ll be with it’s upbringing, but I’ll always be there to support you, I can promise that.”

Screenshot-857Late that night, after everyone had gone to sleep, Aurora, Esmerelda and Tristan met downstairs in the dimly lit pool room.

Screenshot-405Since the death of Estelle, a woman named Jade Racket (who happened to be the ex-wife of Aurora’s father Shark) had been managing the day to day running of the family’s criminal organization. It had been necessary for someone with her experience within the business to do so whilst Tristan was in training. However the time had now come when Tristan had almost finished his training and was ready to take his rightful position as the head of the organization.

Only Jade didn’t see it that way. She had been gathering loyal followers from amongst the other criminals employed in the organization and she was not willing to relinquish her power.

“Something needs to be done about Jade Racket,” Tristan said coldly.

Screenshot-410“Obvously,” Esmerelda replied, “But what?”

“You know what,” Tristan sneered, “There’s only one thing to do.”

“No!” Esmerelda said firmly, “The woman is practically family. She even spent Christmas with us a few years ago!”

“Don’t be ridiculous,” Tristan said, “You know what needs to be done. I’ll do it myself if you don’t have the guts.”

Screenshot-424“This is a family decision,” Esmerelda replied, clearly shaken. She turned to her daughter, “Aurora, do you understand what Tristan is planning? Do you agree with this? This isn’t the right way!”

Screenshot-423Aurora looked from her uncle to her mother. She understood now, why her grandmother had chosen Tristan to run the organization even though Esmerelda was her heir. Esmerelda had too much compassion to make the hard decisions.

Screenshot-427“This is a family decision,” Tristan agreed decisively, “We’ll vote. Aurora, I think your mother and I have made our votes clear, so it’s up to you.”

For just a moment, Aurora felt a heart-wrenching indecision. But she already knew what she had to do. She had to make the right choice for the family, whatever the cost.

Screenshot-426“I agree with you Uncle,” she said.

“Good. We’re going to take care of this problem – and we’re going to do it now. Let’s go.”

  1. Wow, things are starting to get really criminal. I’m curious to see what happens next! You sure got my attention back 🙂

That’s good to hear! 🙂 Seeing as there had been very little criminal activity in my crime legacy I figured it was time to add some action and show the family’s darker side!

  2. Esmerelda and Israel are sweet together. I love the outdoor pool area. It looks fabulous. I’d love to hang out there too.
So Ann and Alec went to France? I love the pic of them taking a selfie kissing. So sweet.
I’m glad Derek changed his mind and was open to a baby. I know how important it is to Aurora. I hope he’s somewhat involved with his own kid. Ooo scary. They’re about to get truly criminal. I’m excited and nervous at the same time.

I’m usually pretty bad with building houses and landscaping in the sims, but I spent ages on this one and annoyed my husband by asking for advice every ten seconds (he’s great with design stuff), but I was really happy with how to pool area turned out in the end 🙂
